Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is designed to help with tension and aches. It is much more thorough and, as the name suggests, it uses a deeper pressure to gradually reach all layers of muscles unravelling the deeply rooted source of pain. Deep Tissue Massage is very effective in treating problems related to poor posture, overuse, chronic pains and repetitive injuries.

Deep Tissue Massage will:

  • Release muscular  pain

  • Restore the movement

  • Reduce muscle tightness

  • Provide a blissful relaxation

  • Eliminate tension

Deep Tissue Massage – What can it treat?
Many chronic conditions such as back pain, stiff neck, sore shoulders or tight hip muscles can easily be improved with Deep Tissue Massage. By releasing the tightness in soft tissues and facilitating a healing process it forces the body to correct the problem which has been present for a long time. It also works on creating a new, healthy muscle memory. This way, when the problem is corrected it can also be easily prevented from returning. Deep Tissue Massage is also beneficial in reducing pain in conditions such as whiplash or sciatica. It calms the central nervous system, reduces muscle spasm and teaches the body to move in a correct way. Additionally, by unwinding the twists in the muscles and deeper tissues, this type of massage is very successful in treating repetitive strain injuries, tennis or golfer's elbows, rotator cuff injuries, back pain and several postural dysfunctions.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage uses certain tissue techniques to mobilise and manipulate muscles. The main purposes are to enhance and repair injured soft tissues, relief pain, prevent injury and maintain physical health. It is ideal for acute injuries such as ligament sprain or muscle tear, but also for chronic, long-lasting neck or shoulder problems. Many people assume that Sports Massage is only beneficial for those who are athletes or physically active. Those who lead a more sedentary life-style can also benefit from having a regular sports massage. It releases tension that accumulates in the muscles and helps to improve the body’s flexibility.

Sports Massage is a great way to:

  • Prevent injuries or long term damage to muscles and joints

  • Enhance training performance

  • Increase healing and recovery from injury

Sports Massage-What can it treat?

From elite tennis or cricket players, to recreational joggers or golfers, Sports Massage has been proven to effectively help with any musculoskeletal injuries such as hamstrings or quads strain, ankle ligament sprain, rotator cuff injury and more. It also works wonders in treating long lasting injuries of stiff neck and lower back pain. No matter how (in)active you are, sports massage can help you to feel more at ease with your body.

Cupping Therapy

The skin is drawn upwards through suction in a cup, over a targeted area of the skin. The cup stays in place for 15 – 30 minutes and is then removed. This ancient form of alternative medicine treats localised pain, assists in the breakup and re-alignment of deep scar tissue, and softens tight muscles and knots. Cupping Therapy works by creating a vacuum inside a cup that is placed on the body, which draws stagnant blood and sticky fluids (that forms around tears in the muscle fibres) to the skin’s surface. With the waste fluid being drawn away from these damaged fibres, new healthy circulation rushes to the area allowing fresh oxygen and nutrients to the area, encouraging faster recovery. This a fantastic alternative medicine to release tension in the muscles and break up adhesions. This therapy may not be suitable for everyone as it may leave visible redness on the skin, that last approximately 10 days, but for some could last up to 3 weeks.

Acupuncture (Dry Needling)

Dry Needling is a type of acupuncture treatment that involves the insertion of a thin filament needle to stimulate the healing process of soft tissues (muscle "trigger points", fascia, tendons and ligaments). The result of Dry Needling are pain relief and restoration of healthy physiology. Although the approach is similar to Acupuncture, Dry Needling fundamentally focuses on the relief of musculoskeletal pathologies, such as;

  • Acute/Chronic injuries

  • Tension Headaches

  • Tendonitis

  • Muscle Spasms

  • Sciatica

  • Muscle strains

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Tennis/Golfer's Elbow

  • TMJ

  • Overuse injuries

Kinesio Taping Method is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. It has been proven to have positive physiological effects on the skin, lymphatic and circulatory system, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints. It can be used in conjunction with a multitude of other treatments such as Deep Tissue Massage and Sports massage, and Cupping Therapy, and is effective during the rehabilitative and chronic phases of an injury, as well as being used for preventative measures.

Therapeutic ULTRASOUND Therapy

Therapeutic Ultrasound Therapy is a non-invasive procedure which uses sound waves to treat musculoskeletal conditions. A small handheld probe is placed on the affected area combined with gel, the probe vibrates sending waves through the skin and into the body. Depending on whether the area being treated is within the acute or chronic phase, Therapeutic Ultrasound Therapy can last anywhere from 5-15 minutes.

Benefits;

  • Reduces swelling

  • Reduces muscular pain

  • Reduces inflammation

  • Breakdown of scar tissue

  • Increaed Lymph flow

The waves sent through the body has several applicable benefits. As well as heating and relaxing the muscles, Therapeutic Ultrasound Therapy breaks down scar tissue and increases local blood flow. This combines to increase the healing rate in the affected area. The heating and relaxing benefits help to alleviate muscular pain, while the increased blood flow to the affected area will mean that more lymph passes through. Lymph is a clear fluid that carries white blood cells throughout our body, which fights infection, encourages healing, and removes excess fluid. These three factors combined, make it a very effective way to treat swelling and inflammation, not only of the muscles, but also of the joints and ligaments. Issues such as tendonitis, chronic joint swelling, and chronic inflammation are some of the most commonly treated issues.
